When it comes to applying for a job at a big company, the phone interview is where your opportunity starts. While it may not give you the chance to meet the hiring managers in person yet, it does help you make a lasting first impression with those who matter most.

1. Respond to Interview Inquiries ASAP
If someone emails you requesting a phone interview, respond in a timely manner. And don’t forget to check your spelling and grammar!
2. Answer in a Professional Voice
You may not recognize the number when the recruiter calls to start the phone interview. Even if you aren’t sure that’s who it is, answer professionally anyway.
3. Know Who’s Calling
Look up the recruiter on LinkedIn. What’s their job title? How long have they been working for the company? Do they have Glassdoor reviews?
4. Read the Job Description
Read and re-read the job description. Do you understand what’s required of you? Do you have any questions about the job? Write this all down so you can bring it up during your interview.
5. Know Your Salary Requirements
You will be asked what your salary requirements are. Make sure you treat this in a professional manner and be confident about what you’re asking for.
6. Take it Slow

11. Use a Clear Voice

12. Reschedule in Advance

15. Say Thank You
